Cedric Delzenne, founder of ShopDesCreateurs.com There are many rewards being a blogger as I am finding out, one of them is that, now before I need to look around for great new shopping places, they come to me instead. So I was contacted by ShopDesCreateurs.com, a Hong Kong-based online store that promotes and sells emerging fashion designer labels, founded in October 2010, by 28 year-old Cedric Delzenne. They asked me if I can tell my readers about their shop, of course I can, from one newbie to another, I would love to help. After all, their website looks up to standard and I like what they carry and what they are trying to do. So I thought, let’s take it up a notch, let’s do an interview with the founder. Although the website is still relatively new now, but who knows it might become something big, then mizzshopaholic would be one of the first ones to get the interview. Ha! So here it is, ladies and gentlemen, read on to find out more about Cedric Delzenne, the idea behind his store and his upcoming plans.

mizzshopaholic: Where are you from and what brings you to Hong Kong?
Cedric Delzenne: Curiosity! I had enough of reading and hearing about the Asian boom – I had to see it and experience it myself. I was born in France.
 
M: What inspired you to start this business and why?
CD: I was lucky enough to travel a lot before moving to Hong Kong two years ago, but finding all over the major cities with the same global mainstream brands. I quickly noticed that there was a growing local community of talented designers struggling with skyrocketing retail space rents and a fairly limited audience, while the world was craving for unique, creative products, so the idea of my shop was born. I wanted – and still want – the shop to become a reference for people looking for genuine fashion, something that will make them stand out. And for designers, their partner in finding their audience on a larger scale, opening doors for them for a fraction of the cost.
 
M: What are your plans and visions for the website in the near future?
CD: Offer a wider choice of products and styles with the same demand for creativity, wearability, high quality and affordable prices; provide our audience with interesting and fun editorial content (mix & matches, upcoming trends, style tips…); and ensure our visitors have a top-notch shopping experience. Next year, we will introduce a pretty exciting “augmented reality” feature – and that’s a scoop. ;-)
 
M: Which are the best selling labels?
CD: French lingerie label Maison Close has been a hit as soon as it joined the shop. May28th from Toronto is a big success too.
 
M: Which are your favourite labels?
CD: I particularly love Gosha’s rock & chic jewellery from Hong Kong and Eight & a Half drapped dresses from Bangkok. I also find Ines Klim’s delicate and sexy resort-wear line from Hong Kong absolutely gorgeous! My girlfriend offered me one of the sleek designed watches from VOID, one of the first designers who joined the shop. It always lies on my wrist.
 
M: And for all my fellow shopaholics, recommend your favourite place in the world (other than your store) to shop.
CD: I love Buenos Aires’ Palermo. A no show-off neighbourhood with superb creativity, from fashion to arts and culinary experiences.

    Lovely interview piece. I was contacted by ShopDesCreateurs too but decided to wait until I visit HK to arrange something with the HQ :P
